Our hotel is named after a local businessman from the 1700s—yep, three centuries years ago. John Lloyd was a prominent businessman in Stamford during the revolutionary era. He likely wore uncomfortable clothing and had an engraved pocket-watch. All the more reason to salute our old friend.
Originally a shipping magnate, Lloyd later purchased a portion of land we locals know fondly as Mill River Park (across the street from the hotel), where he operated a General Store for many years. Guy was clearly a people person too, with a reputation for supporting local businesses, building a strong sense of community, and imparting kindness on strangers. We’re simply carrying on the deep local tradition of extending a hospitable hand to neighbors and newbies alike.
Come stay at The Lloyd. Whether passing through or putting down temporary roots, travelers can expect a curated, personalized and inspirational boutique hotel experience, unlike any other.
